An Exciting New Chapter
The Edmonton Public Schools Foundation has been doing a lot of reflection with guidance from schools, Division leaders, our Board of Directors, and our community of donors.
COVID-19 has changed both the public education and the charitable giving landscapes, and we are responding so that we can best fulfill the needs of our 105,000+ students across the Division.
Challenging times and the need for an occasional hand-up have no geographic boundaries; the Foundation has a responsibility to both recognize this and to find ways that we can best serve this need. To that end, we are excited to be expanding our Division’s fundraising efforts to include more than Full-Day Kindergarten. On April 27, 2022, our Board of Directors passed a motion to expand our fundraising efforts to include six main pillars:
- Full Day Kindergarten: “Giving children extra time in the classroom, when they need it most.”
- Learning Enhancements: “Providing additional learning support to students in need.”
- Mental Wellness: “Creating safe, caring and responsive school communities.”
- Enrichment Opportunities: “Enhancing the student experience through safe and meaningful activities.”
- Learning Tools and Technology: “Equipping students with the tools they need to learn and succeed.”
- School Nutrition: “Filling tummies so students can learn and grow.”
We are looking forward to this exciting, new chapter for the Edmonton Public Schools Foundation and the opportunity to continue leveling the playing field for students who come to the classroom at a disadvantage.
