School’s Out, But the Impact Continues
June marks the end of another unforgettable school year, one filled with milestones, meaningful partnerships, and student success stories made possible by you.
In this month’s newsletter, we’re reflecting on the impact of your generosity and looking ahead to the exciting work still to come. Your support continues to shape brighter futures, one student at a time.

Celebrating Another Year of Impact with the Edmonton Public Schools Foundation

From innovative programs to heartfelt community initiatives, it’s been a year of real impact. We’ve captured some of the highlights in a new blog post - be sure to check it out!
Your generosity is more than a donation. It’s a statement of belief in public education and the bright futures of Edmonton’s students. Thank you.
Introducing the Career Pathways Fund – A Tribute to Superintendent Darrel Robertson
After 30 years with Edmonton Public Schools, including 12 years as Superintendent, Darrel Robertson is retiring.
To honour his extraordinary legacy, the Edmonton Public Schools Foundation is proud to announce the Career Pathways Fund, in honour of Superintendent Robertson.
Career Pathways helps students explore post-secondary education, career training, and hands-on learning experiences through public education. Donations to the Career Pathways Fund may support:
- Student tuition
- Program costs
- Learning materials and equipment
Every donation, big or small, expands opportunity for students across our city. Your support makes this legacy possible.
How Go Auto’s Support for Fresh Hoops is Transforming Outdoor Play Spaces (and Possibilities!) Across Edmonton

What happens when community spirit meets corporate generosity and the power of play? You get Fresh Hoops - an initiative changing the way students in Edmonton Public Schools experience recess, recreation, and connection.
In playgrounds across Edmonton, students are stepping onto bright new basketball courts that do more than offer a place to play. These revitalized spaces create community, foster belonging, and build self-esteem.
We recently sat down with Jared Priestner, Principal and Owner of Go Auto, to talk about the company’s support for Fresh Hoops. Visit the blog to hear more about Go Auto’s Go Gives Back program, the Fresh Hoops impact and Jared’s perspective on creating a culture of giving back in the workplace.
Meet Our Board: Cory MacTaggart
What inspires our Board Members to champion the Foundation? We asked them to share the heart behind their support, and their stories are too powerful not to share. Stay tuned as we spotlight their voices over the coming months!

About Cory
Cory has a Bachelor of Education Degree in Secondary Education from the University of Alberta and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Concordia University.
Today, Cory is the Principal of Dr. Lila Fahlman School, a K-9 school in Edmonton, Alberta. In his role as Principal, Cory holds many responsibilities, some of which include leading a learning community, fostering effective relationships, modelling a commitment to professional learning, and embodying visionary leadership, among many others.
Cory was a Top 40 under 40 for Avenue Magazine (now Edify) and also received the Royal Life Saving Society Commonwealth Council Certificate of Thanks. In addition, Cory is proud to have hosted and organized an Evening with Tommy Banks (a fundraiser for the Foundation while honouring Westglen Schools’ 75th Anniversary).
The Foundation is important to Cory because he saw firsthand the benefits of the Foundation while he was an Assistant Principal at Montrose School.
In his free time, Cory loves to travel (especially on airplanes) and participates in different forms of physical activity, such as swimming, running, and working out. He hopes to compete again in a triathlon one day.
Q: If you could tell donors one thing about their impact, what would it be?
“The generosity of your donations truly transforms lives. Every dollar you give directly supports students’ success and well-being. Thank you sincerely for making such a meaningful difference — your support changes futures!”
