Powered by the Community: Celebrating Our 2025–2026 Impact

As the 2025–26 school year draws to a close, the Edmonton Public Schools Foundation is looking back with immense gratitude on another incredible year of making a meaningful difference for thousands of students across the Division — all thanks to the generosity of staff, students, partners, donors and volunteers.

Here is a look at some of what we achieved this year - together:

By the numbers

Your support is more than a financial gift - it’s also a powerful vote of confidence in public education, a direct investment in the potential of students and proof of what we can achieve when we stand together.

We’re Recruiting New Board Members!

Strong public education builds strong communities. The Edmonton Public Schools Foundation’s mission is to level the playing field for students coming to the classroom at a disadvantage.

We are seeking new volunteer board members for our advisory and community-facing Board.

Board members act as Foundation ambassadors and advocates, focusing primarily on raising funds and awareness for Edmonton Public Schools.

Time Commitment: 4–8 hours per month, including bi-monthly 90-minute meetings. Committee work is available and may add to the suggested time commitment. The term for these volunteer positions is three years.

We’re looking for community representatives with skills in:

  • Business, Governance, or Marketing/Communications
  • Fundraising and Community Relations
  • A strong interest in supporting public education

If this sounds like you, please send us a letter of interest and resume to Foundation@epsb.ca by July 31, 2026. The letter of interest should include an overview of your background and detail why you’re interested in supporting education.

For further information on this opportunity, please read more on our website or contact us at Foundation@epsb.ca if you have any questions!

Breaking the Silence Mental Health Walk and Run

What an incredible turnout for mental health! On Saturday, June 13, 1,700 participants of all ages laced up for the Breaking the Silence Mental Health Walk and Run. It was a beautiful day of movement, connection and open conversations about the importance of mental health in our community.

The Edmonton Public Schools Foundation is grateful to be the recipient of a $12,000 donation from this year’s event!

Breaking the Silence has generously donated a total of $34,000 to the Edmonton Public Schools Foundation since 2024, funding programs and resources that help students build resilience, feel connected and reach their full potential. Past funding has supported BLUES Program Training for EPSB Mental Health Therapists and Wellness Coaches and has also supported the purchase of Mental Health Resource Kits, all in support of students.

To the organizers, the volunteers and every single person who walked, ran, or donated: thank you. Together, we can break the silence and build a healthier community!

To the Graduating Class of 2026

As we near the end of the school year, the Edmonton Public Schools Foundation extends its best wishes to all students for a successful and happy year-end. We also send our heartfelt congratulations to the graduating Class of 2026 as they complete this incredible milestone and look forward to the future!

We asked our Foundation board members, “if you could go back to the end of Grade 12 and give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be”? Here are some of the great responses that we received!
