Strong public education builds strong communities. The Edmonton Public Schools Foundation’s mission is to level the playing field for students coming to the classroom at a disadvantage. 

We are seeking new volunteer board members for our advisory and community-facing Board. 

Board members act as Foundation ambassadors and advocates, focusing primarily on raising funds and awareness for Edmonton Public Schools.

Time Commitment: 4–8 hours per month, including bi-monthly 90-minute meetings. Committee work is available and may add to the suggested time commitment. The term for these volunteer positions is three years.

We’re looking for community representatives with skills in:

 - Business, Governance, or Marketing/Communications
 - Fundraising and Community Relations
 - A strong interest in supporting public education

The role of the Board is to complement the efforts of the Board of Trustees and to broaden and deepen support for public education and Edmonton Public Schools by:

 - educating the community about the significant contributions of public education;
 - engaging the community in advancing public education and the Division’s priorities; and
 - providing opportunities for interested community members to invest in public education and the 122,000+ students who attend Edmonton Public Schools.

The Board’s primary responsibility is to raise funds and awareness in support of Edmonton Public Schools. Other responsibilities include:

 - act as a Foundation ambassador & advocate;
 - spread awareness to the community;
 - represent the Foundation at public events;
 - seek fundraising opportunities;
 - cultivate and steward donors; and 
 - participate in other Foundation activities, such as fundraising events and community engagement activities.

The Foundation Board may also be asked to provide guidance, feedback and recommendations to strategic and fundraising plans, and other activities that help achieve the mission of the Foundation.
