When a school recognizes that a student or community cannot afford fees like lunch supervision or adequate school supplies, schools will often divert operational funds to cover these day-to-day essentials. In these situations, Teachers must get creative in order to fund enrichment opportunities like Artist Residencies, Field Trips and other special presentations; these costs would typically be shared between the school and a student’s guardian. In our more complex schools, we recognize that these additional costs cannot be shared by parents and caregivers. By applying for grants and bursaries, schools work hard to supplement the classroom experience. Through the Foundation, we create equity by ensuring that every school can access enrichment opportunities, no matter the economic status of the community in which the school is located.
In addition to those mentioned above, donors to this area support career preparation and the integration of Career Pathways values, after-school programming, and cultural experiences.
