Maureen’s background also includes impactful partnership development and stakeholder engagement with Edmonton Catholic Schools, Elk Island Separate Schools, the City of Edmonton, Parks Canada, and RC Strategies. Q: What was your favourite subject in school and why?
A: Social studies and physical education were always my favorite subjects. I loved learning about new cultures and still dream of traveling to many places. I also jumped at any chance to try a new sport; anything to get me out from behind my desk!
Q: Do you have a favourite memory from school?
A: I’ll never forget being in Grade 4 and 5 and staying after school during those warm May and June afternoons. My friends and I would borrow whatever ball we could find—footballs, basketballs, you name it—and play in the schoolyard until the very last minute. We’d sneak back in to return the equipment right before lock-up, surely under the watchful (and knowing) eyes of the staff. Even the kids who usually took the bus started riding their bikes just to join the game. We had so much fun!
