Fueling Bright Minds: The Impact of Top-ups for Tummies in Edmonton Schools
Hunger has no place in the classroom, yet across Edmonton, over 40,000 children live in poverty, leaving many vulnerable to food insecurity.
Thanks to the generous support of donors, the Edmonton Public Schools Foundation is making a difference and fuelling bright minds across our city. In January 2025, the Top-ups for Tummies program granted over $137,000 to 79 schools for school nutrition support, ensuring students receive the nourishment they need to succeed.

Tackling food insecurity in our schools is far from over. For the first time in Division recollection, every one of our 214 schools is aware of at least a handful of students whose families are facing food security challenges.

This month, Darcy climbed 500 flights of stairs to raise funds for our programs—what an amazing feat!
Now, he’s off to take on an even bigger challenge: climbing Mount Kilimanjaro! We’re wishing Darcy all the best on his adventure.
Another successful year for Wrap and Roll at Kingsway Mall.
As we welcome the new year, we are still overwhelmed with the support from our Wrap and Roll holiday fundraiser at Kingsway Mall. Thank you to everyone who volunteered, dropped off gifts or donated this holiday season.
We raised nearly $7,000 to support over 120,000 students across our city!
January 27 was Family Literacy Day!
Early literacy is the foundation for lifelong learning and success, yet many children face challenges in this critical area. The Edmonton Public Schools Foundation plays a vital role in equipping young learners with the skills they need to thrive academically and beyond.
Through our Full Day Kindergarten and Literacy Supports pillars, our donors and community partners are making a difference in the future of our youngest bright minds.
