Community Partner Project: Kits for Kids

We are very honoured that our Edmonton Mayor and City Council proclaimed May 1, 2020 as "Reading for Life Day", celebrating the importance of learning and literacy.

The proclamation reads:

WHEREAS, for 10 years the Ready for Life Breakfast has raised vital funds in support of full-day Kindergarten programs across Edmonton;

AND WHEREAS, the money raised ensures that the event helps give every child an opportunity to succeed in learning and in life;

AND WHEREAS, this year's event has transformed into an online initiative themed Reading for Life;

AND WHEREAS, Edmontonians are asked to stay home, read and reflect on the impact that reading and learning has had on their lives;

AND WHEREAS, by sharing #readingforlife posts online and donating to the Edmonton Public Schools Foundation we can help equip the next generation with the skills and opportunities the need to thrive;

THEREFORE, I, MAYOR DON IVESON, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM MAY 1, 2020 "READING FOR LIFE DAY" IN EDMONTON, ALBERTA's CAPITAL CITY.
