
About Annie
A recent graduate from the University of Alberta, Annie has a BA in political science with a women’s and gender studies minor. Her studies focused on intersectionality and critically examining how systems impact marginalized people. She also holds a certificate in interdisciplinary leadership studies from the Peter Lougheed Leadership College at the UofA. In partnership with the YWCA Edmonton and All Cycles Edmonton, Annie created Period Pop-Up Edmonton, a take-what-you-need-leave-what-you-can menstrual product pantry located at Remedy Cafe on 109 Street, Edmonton AB. Her interests include social justice, community care projects, and youth activism and engagement.

Q: What is your favourite children’s book?
A: Growing up I loved the Penderwicks books.
Q: What was your favourite subject in school and why?
A: My favourite subject was social studies. I enjoyed learning about politics and the world.
Q: Do you have a favorite memory from school?
A: One of my favourite memories was joining the curling team in high school. My friends and I never won a game, but we earned the reputation of being “the smiliest bunch” on the ice.
